I intend to archive the original DonkeyProg on this site when XE is released, mainly to comply with the requirements of GPL regarding availability of source code. This will continue to be available here, but I would also appreciate any offers to host the full downloadable package elsewhere to continue with the spirit of the GPL should this site become unavailable for any reason. (**Don't panic, I don't intend doing a runner, just doing a bit of contingency planning, after all I might get run over by a bus tomorrow....) If anyone is interested, I might consider putting the original DonkeyProg on SourceForge for posterity - I myself don't intend doing any more work on DP1.0.

OK. Now that's settled...

What is DonkeyProg XE ???

DonkeyProg XE (DPXE) stands for "DonkeyProg eXtended Edition". Questions? OK, here are some answers. DPXE is not actually an "Edition" as such, it's more like a complete rewrite - there's not a single line of original code left. As for the "Extended" bit, well, it's got more functionality so at least that bit's accurate. I just thought XE sounded good...

Seriously though, this little program will have most of the User-Interface (UI) functionality of the upcoming MP-II (MP2) software, which I'm also writing. The reason? It has a lot of MP2 code in it. DPXE is a single-document, restricted functionality version of MP-II. End of story. I can't release this version as open source because it contains so much MP-II code! So unfortunately it's proprietary software, although it remains free of charge to you, the end user.

Copyright issues: I retain copyright to DonkeyProg, DPXE and MP-II (MP2) in their present form, and any future form developed by myself. DonkeyProg is subject to the GPL, licensing issues are the remit of the Free Software Foundation - this is out of my hands.

Stripping out the guff, DPXE is now actually further along in development than MP-II as of 22 Feb. 06. I expect to have it ready for release by the first week in March, if not earlier. It all depends on what other stuff I have to do in the meantime!

Anyway, here are some updated screenshots of DPXE...

And one showing the Fuse/ID editor....
