It doesn't really get much simpler than this: Download the DonkeyProg package (a .zip file), create a new folder anywhere on your system - the desktop is just fine, and unzip the contents of the package into this folder. There should be 4 files present - these are:
If you got your package from another site or a download service then it may contain additional files. These additional files are not part of the DonkeyProg package and should be ignored or deleted - many packages available from peer-to-peer services have malware (viruses, trojans and spyware) added to them. Only files with the ZIP extension, containing the 4 named files above AND NOTHING ELSE, are genuine. If in doubt, get it here.
Use MicroPro to "burn" a 628/628A with the firmware (DProg.hex), then unplug your programmer and swap the PIC for the one you've just burned. Keep the PIC you've removed in a safe place, you will need to replace it in the programmer to use MicroPro for programming the PIC devices it supports. Power up the programmer and run DonkeyProg.exe by double clicking it. Configure your serial/USB port in the Options->Port... menu, and you're all set to program devices! |
